Vineyard assessment application accurately evaluating grapes has never been easier

In field-based operations, unreliable tools, poor data syncing, and limited offline capability slow assessments and create inconsistencies in decision-making. When quality data is captured late or inaccurately, downstream processes — from pricing to reporting — are affected.

This case study shows how a global luxury wine company replaces an outdated grape quality assessment application with a new, offline-capable field services solution

+ Delivery Stats

+ Offline capability plus improved system stability
+ Reliable data syncing and improved photo capture
+ Modern interface with superior user experience for assessors.

+ The Challenge

This organisation faced challenges with their existing grape quality assessment application. This old, clunky application, built on an Access database with a mobile front-end, suffered from unreliable syncing mechanisms, required manual updates, and had a non-consolidated update system for growers.

It also limited assessors to capturing only one picture at a time without a description, leading to confusion and inefficiencies in communicating grape quality,  yield, and price to growers.

+ The Solution

A new field services application was developed in just 4 weeks by one developer and a designer. This quick-turnaround production app supports vineyard assessors in evaluating grape quality, contract validity, and price adjustments.

A crucial feature is its offline capability, essential for remote vineyard blocks, allowing assessors to capture information and sync manually when online. The new solution also supports multiple input types, including full assessments, simple visit records, or price changes on existing contracts, with all data pushing back into their core system.
